The Slow Decline
09:55
|
|
||
The slow decline takes its toll
The end draws near
To all the loyal souls who bit their lips and brought me flowers
Who spoke aloud their stories as my mind came and went
And sang me to sleep as our eyes filled with water
And colored in my world when shadows called to me
To all the loyal souls who kept the earth at my feet
Thank you, and farewell

When
11:24
|
|

The curtains played
And leapt like children by the sea
Upon the bed there lay a quilt embossed with falling leaves
One lonely bird
Sweet-tempered company
A song to sing, and joy to bring
Stood by the open door
We watched you sleep
And whispered somberly
And in our hearts we hid such sorrow as you slowly died
When the moment has come
And the silence makes you sick
Remember
There were better times than these
With my coffin waiting
Days moved ever slowly
Hopeless, endless moments
Of torment and woe
The mourning
The weeping
The thoughts I'm keeping
The murmurs
And silence
Resisting violence
Recover
Discover
Console each other
The moments we're wasting
This chance I'm taking

On the Eve of My Death
09:24
|
|
||
Soaked in sweat, I fought through the wind and the pouring rain
To our favourite place, to see how the journey ends
How can this be?
I remember the night we spent here years ago
When we promised never again to be torn apart
Then I crawled to the edge
To face the jagged rocks below
Foreboding clouds opened to light my way
Poor withered body, braced and poised to leap
Into the night I wailed a final speech
When it was done
Into the sea I sadly fell
On the eve of my death
How I yearned to have you there

Your Lonely Hearse
11:32
|
|
||
Oh, we wept
I'll miss the songs you sang to me
Perfect, the words upon your lips
The liquid light that soothed our hearts
Fills up the sea where you lay to rest
Grasping a box of your dry, dead remains
The time has come; I must cast you away
Blistering cold atop the peak from which you leapt
The earth stood still in wait as ashes filled the sea view
The way we were
Falls gently to the shore
On we tread
Beneath a sky that's far from blue
To wait for stars, now grey and still
And watch the tide, your lonely hearse
Take you from me, from this lowly earth
